Garden

The last time that we saw Jessica’s Virginia Garden was back in may, when it was full of cute little seedlings, but nothing edible just yet.  Well take a look at it now!  It is well on it’s way to full slow food goodness.

There’s nothing better than fresh, locally grown food, and how much more satisfying it is when you’ve grown the food yourself.  I don’t know about you guys, but all the unhealthy things done to our food these days just doesn’t work for me and has made me really conscious of what I’m putting into my body.  Shout out to all the local farmers, organic food chefs, and foodies out there lol

What about you guys…anyone have a blossoming garden or fun food (or farmers market) story to share?  There are some really great fruits and veggies in season right now  :)

Dining Al fresco is one of my favorite things about summer.  With just a few touches, you can transform your outdoor space into a romantic dining area or a casually elegant outdoor party for friends.

In the spirit of the slow food movement, today I am featuring my friend Jessica’s new garden. I LOVE IT! Its so cute and sitting out there in the sun has got to be so refreshing! I think her’s is a great example of how anyone, with any amount of space can begin caring for their own food and plants. Caring for our own plants not only bring us closer to nature and helps to promote environmental health, it has also been known to improve air quality (indoors and outdoors) and promote good health. Potted plants throughout the home and outside of the home disperse negative energy and herbs support digestion and double as a multivitamin. From the grandest farmer’s market, to the single window box of herbs and spices, we all can make a difference in our own health and the health of our world.

Jessica is also an Animal Keeper at the National Zoo’s Conservation and Research Center.  Check her out! She writes a weekly Leopard Log about caring for the clouded leopards around the clock, watching their growth, and whatever else those cute little cubs get into. If you’d like to receive her Leopard Log, just shoot us an email :)
