While perusin’ through Habitually Chic, written by Interior Designer and Freelance Writer Heather Clawson, I came across Heather’s review of The Find:Thrift Shop Treasures, Flea Market Objects, and Vintage Details (which I can’t wait to read!) which introduced me to Housing Works.   Housing Works is a PHENOMENAL community-based organization committed to ending the AIDS crisis and homelessness.  Based out of New York City, Housing Works raises millions every year, through their stylish Thrift Shops and Bookstore Cafe, to help pay for “housing, medical and mental health care, meals, job training, drug treatment, HIV prevention education, and social support to more than 20,000 homeless and low-income New Yorkers living with HIV and AIDS”.  I can not say enough about this organization.  I personally believe that EVERY person deserves a place to call home and every person deserves to live a happy and fulfilling life.  Housing Works embodies this belief and more.  I have found that you can find the greatest satisfaction when you lend a hand to someone else, and we all have this opportunity in many different forms
Check out some of the items for sale at the Housing Works Thrift Shop…Everyone’s looking for a bargain these days right? Â What a great way to be green by re-using, save money, and know that your purchase will be helping someone along the way
